The Housemartins《Build》

英國本土的歌曲都有其特色,
The Housemartins樂隊就被界定為歌詞奇特,
濃厚的馬克斯政治與基督教色彩的混合表達.
最初是由Paul Heaton(vocals)、Stan Cullimore(guitar)、
Ted Key(bass)與Hugh Whitaker(drums)四人組成，
後來bass手與鼓手由Norman Cook與Dave Hemingway取代.
1984年他們在英國Hull 市組成樂隊.(卻於1988年解散)
自稱為Hull市四大樂隊之一,
(其他三大為『Red Guitars』『Everything But The Girl』及『Gargoyles』)
The Housemartins 在1987年十一月有一首作品打入UK流行榜15位,
歌曲名字《Build》,旋律優美,
總覺得他們是留戀著美國大學校園的味道,
流露出一股淡淡的愁鬱-
看似一種少年不知愁滋味
為賦新詞強說愁.
但無可否認的,『強說』可能是過於主觀,
年青人對現實世界的無助與自嘲,
無需教導,一代過去,一代又來,代代如此,
每個人都需要自行去模索,在無情的現實世界前進,
學習如何剛強………
